Subject: Shadow man experiences since childhood

I live in Western Australia and ever since I was a young child I have had run ins with shadow people and had sleep paralysis. I will describe a few of the most memorable/traumatic experiences…

One day as a kid (about 7 years old) I was alone playing in my room. I always felt uneasy being alone in my room to the point where I would always have my back to a wall, but this day I was feeling very at ease. Suddenly, I felt uneasy as if I was being watched and I looked towards my door. There appeared a cloudy figure of a man starting from just feet and slowly formed into a dark person shape. I felt totally overcome with a feeling of doom like if I didn’t get away something bad would happen to me so I gathered my courage and ran past it out into the hall way. As soon as I did, I felt all my energy drain from my body and I fell to the ground unable to move my legs. I knew my mum was in the lounge room, so I literally clawed my way up the hallway grabbing the carpet with my fists. I tried to call out to her but I couldn’t make any sounds. As soon as my mum came into view, I was able to get up and I ran over to her in hysterics. She just said I had an overactive imagination.

A similar thing happened to my own child when he was about 3 and I knew right away what had happened. He was playing in his room with the door shut (I usually always make sure their door is opened) when suddenly he started screaming out for me as if something really bad happened so I ran in. He was absolutely shaking and in tears, sitting right up against the wall and he was pointing to the opposite corner of the room saying there had been a person there and he wasn’t able to move away. I knew right away it was a similar thing that had happened to me.

I have also often had sleep paralysis which is often worse when big life changes are going on such as when I was pregnant. The sleep paralysis always involves hearing men’s voices or seeing people shapes in my room. One particularly scary one, I remember feeling a hand on my leg and there was a very old haggard man sitting at the foot of my bed just staring menacingly at me. He said, very matter of factly, “You’re going to die you know,” and at that point I gathered all my energy and forced myself to make a guttural sound which made my husband wake me up.

There was also a very threatening experience where I became aware that I was paralyzed, and I felt a presence above me in the room. I looked up, and there was a large being on the ceiling looking down at me. As soon as I saw it, it dropped down onto me and It felt like thick oil was covering me. Luckily I was able to make a screaming sound and my husband woke me up.

Here are a few effective techniques I’ve learned which wake me up from sleep paralysis quite quickly...

- Try to scream. Envisage the scream coming from deep down in your throat almost like a deep moaning. This almost always results in actually making real noise which can wake me up or cause someone else to wake me up.

- try to ‘flip’ out of the bed. If I feel very trapped, I have had success with focusing my energy on rolling or flipping over Sideways in a rocking motion. The rocking side to side motion seems to kind of build up a momentum of energy which enables your body to actually move.
