Subject: shadow figure experience

My first encounter happened when I was about 4-5 years old.

My mother worked at the elementary school in town, and one night she took my sister and I with her to the school. I don't recall why we were there, but my mother told us we could play in the gym for a little bit.

This gym has two doorways on the west wall on either end that led to the main hallway which was only steps away from my mother's office. As my sister and I were playing in the gym, we saw a shadow move past the first doorway. When the figure passed by the second doorway down the hall, we could make out that it certainly wasn't our mother. We ran out into the hallway to see who it was, but no one was there. I don't really remember much of her reaction, or what she said, but she did search the school. I can only explain the shadow figure as if someone with lumps on their head was walking down a hallway but looked like a dark shadow. I hadn't brought it up until a few years ago when I realized more people have seen these kinds of things.

When I asked my mother about it, I could tell it bothered her a little, but she brushed it off as nothing. She is a believer in the paranormal and the spiritual world, so I'm guessing it makes her uncomfortable to talk about.

This wasn't the first time I experienced the shadow being. The next time I would lay eyes on it, it would chill me to my core.

Around this time, I was now 9-10 years old. My cousins and I were at my aunt's house and my cousins were to keep watch on me while my aunt was leaving to go to work as they were older than I was.

We made our way to my cousin's room where we would watch a movie and hang out. As time went on, we started to get hungry, and my cousins insisted we go see what there was to make.

My oldest cousin went out of the room first, followed by me, then our other cousin. We made our way down the hallway and into the kitchen, giddy and laughing along the way. As we entered the kitchen the happiness quickly turned into fear. Standing in the living room was something I will never forget to this day. Dread quickly overtook us as we stood there frozen in fear at the sight of a dark figure that was darker than dark and standing in the living room by the couch. It was daylight and the sun was shining in the windows but whatever this thing was it was completely pitch black and very prominent but also what looked like static around its entire body. It started to walk towards the dining room and one by one, we ran down the hallway to the basement and out of the basement door to the outside.

As soon as we calmed down, we made our way back to the front door of the house where we saw the figure and it was gone. My cousins built up the courage and called my uncle who worked down the road. My uncle came home and searched the house and there wasn't a sign of anyone. I think he could tell we weren't lying because we were pretty shaken up, but he reassured us we were all safe. I haven't seen a shadow figure since and I really hope I don't ever see one again but the image of seeing one will forever be ingrained in my mind.

Sincerely, A true believer
