Subject: Shadow Person Story

The first time I encountered a shadow person was in our house in Swindon, Wiltshire – it is a house built in the 1990s and as far as I am aware there is no history to the site. It was a new house built on a cow pasture. At the time (about 5 years ago) I had 3 pugs and one of them use to constantly “see” something in the doorway while we were watching TV. Sometimes one of the others would look at the same time to the same spot. That freaked me out a little.

Then one day I walked into my kitchen and to my right, in the entrance to the utility room which leads to the back door, about 2-3 yards from me was the shadow person. It was clear as anything because there was streetlight coming through the back-door window behind it. It was a man, a burly man, about 6’ tall with short hair and he was just stood in the doorway when I walked in. I got the “impression” he froze when I walked in so I wouldn’t notice him. But I had noticed him of course. I was shocked and didn’t dare look directly at him. I “pretended” I hadn’t seen him and carried on doing what I was doing at the sink and out of the corner of my right eye, I saw him just fade away. I didn’t feel threatened or scared.

The second time was in the same area of the house. I walked into the utility and this time I saw him to my left, about a yard away, in the cloakroom. This time I turned and walked back to the kitchen which was well-lit as opposed to the cloakroom which was only half-lit. This time I told him to get out of my house, I hadn’t invited him, he wasn’t welcome, and he needed to get out of my house and then I walked away.

The third time was one summer night when I walked into the utility room, opened the back door and walked outside and he was to my left this time by our shed, about 5 yards away. As I turned to look at him, he faded away. I still didn’t feel threatened or scared but I just didn’t want him in my house, and I reminded him. I never saw him again at that house.

We then moved to Cornwall about 9 months ago and our house in Swindon has been empty for about 1 month until my partner just went back to work on it to get it ready to sell.

Then last night, I walked up the stairs of our new house, turned left at the top onto the landing, and he was right there on my left in the doorway of the front bedroom- inches from me – literally in my face. If I had been turning into that bedroom, I would have walked right into him. It was like I had caught him unawares. I was so shocked, and I was carrying my sick pug in my arms, so I carried on into our main bedroom and placed the dog in her bed. Then I stood there for a moment thinking. I was really annoyed. It was like he was behaving like a naughty child. I had told him to keep our of our Swindon house and he did after I told him to get out. But because we had moved to a new house, I think he felt the rules didn’t apply there but I had caught him out. I was really annoyed that he had effectively follow me and he was sneaking around our new house. I told him to get out, that it was my house, that I didn’t want him there, and that he had not been invited, and I was very cross that he had been sneaking around my house without me knowing and it does make me wonder how long he has been there. So, it remains to be seen what happens next.

It bothers me more that he is upstairs in our house – at the other house I only ever noticed him downstairs. This last time though he was in “my” room – it is the front bedroom that I have turned into my dressing room/study/command centre and I constantly joke to my partner when he walks into it that he is not allowed in there and only I am allowed in there. So shadow man knows this, and he was right there in my room. Busted matey! I think he thought I wouldn’t see him, but I never shut the Velux blinds completely in that room and once again there was streetlight coming in which is why I could see his outline.

I don’t think it is a trick of the light or a hallucination because each time I have seen him it has been in a different spot at a different distance from me and he has remained in proportion to the surroundings and the distance. I have seen him to my left and to my right – last night I looked in his direction. His “substance” has also been different, the first time and last time being when he was the densest and blackest. I told my partner about him, but he doesn’t seem too bothered or interested – I think he just thinks I imagined it. I told one of my workmates about him as she had had a spooky experience in her new house with taps turning on by themselves, but it wasn’t the same thing she was experiencing as it turned out. I don’t personally know anybody else who has had a similar experience.
